Even if you have no tailoring experience or it’s your first time using a tape measure, by following these simple step-by-step instructions, you’ll be able to take the necessary measurements and save them in your Saveone profile. What do you need? A friend and a tape measure; we’ll handle the rest.
BEFORE YOU START
A FEW TIPS
This brief guide and our video tutorial will show you how to take men’s body measurements in just 10-15 minutes, avoiding any mistakes.
Before you begin measuring, wear a light shirt or t-shirt and make sure to empty your pants pockets.
When measuring circumferences, it is important to keep the tape measure aligned horizontally, making sure it doesn’t tilt or shift. Ensure that the tape fits snugly against your body without being too tight.
Pay attention to using the tape measure correctly, starting from the right end, as this is a common mistake.
Enter the exact measurements into your profile, without adding or subtracting centimeters. If you prefer a looser or tighter fit, it’s our job to adjust the garment to your preferences.
Except for the Back Length, avoid using the measurements of other garments that fit you well. Use only measurements related to your own body.
Since the human body is not perfectly symmetrical, you may be asked to measure both limbs. This will ensure a more accurate and tailored fit.
LET’S STAR HERE
IN 12 SIMPLE STEPS
Here is the complete list of the 12 essential measurements and the 5 body shape indicators that our tailors need. We encourage you to carefully read all the instructions, and once you’re ready, you can access the video tutorial via the button at the bottom of the page.
At the end of the video, you’ll have the opportunity to save your anatomical measurements, allowing us to begin creating your new bespoke suit or shirt.
MEASURE THE CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE BY PLACING THE TAPE MEASURE UNDER THE ARMPITS AND OVER THE NIPPLES. MAKE SURE THE TAPE IS HORIZONTALLY ALIGNED. THEN, RELAX YOUR ARMS AT YOUR SIDES AND BREATHE NORMALLY TO GET AN ACCURATE BUST MEASUREMENT.
CHEST CIRCUMFERENCE
Wrap the tape measure around the neck, just below the Adam’s apple, keeping it slightly snug without tightening. Avoid stretching your neck or lowering your chin; stay relaxed to get an accurate measurement.
NECK CIRCUMFERENCE
Measure the width of the shoulders starting from the outermost point of the left shoulder (approximately where the sleeve seam will be placed) to the outermost point of the right shoulder. The tape should not remain perfectly straight but should follow the natural curve of the back, passing over the protruding bone at the base of the neck.
SHOULDER WIDTH
Relax your arms and measure the length in two steps: start from the point where the shoulder measurement ended, which is the outermost point of the shoulder (approximately where the sleeve seam will be placed), and measure down to the elbow. Keep the tape in this position, then continue the measurement down to the wrist bone, following the lateral profile of the arm.
ARM LENGTH
Relax your arms and let them hang by your sides. Then, measure the circumference of both biceps at the widest point and enter only the larger value between the two.
BICEP CIRCUMFERENCE
Measure the circumference of both wrists just below the most prominent bone and enter the larger value between the two
WRIST CIRCUMFERENCE
Tilt your head slightly forward. Place the tape measure on the most prominent bone at the back of the neck and measure down to the back of the crotch (about 1 cm below the gluteus). Note: Alternatively, you can take the measurement from a well-fitting jacket by measuring the center back seam, excluding the collar.
BACK LENGTH
Relax and don’t hold your breath (or your stomach!). Measure the circumference at the level of the navel, making sure the tape is horizontally aligned.
STOMACH CIRCUMFERENCE
Measure the waist circumference four fingers below the navel, again making sure not to hold your breath. Ensure the tape is horizontally aligned and that your pants do not interfere with the measurement.
WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE
Measure the circumference of the hips at the widest point, usually around the middle of the gluteus, making sure the tape is perfectly aligned horizontally.
HIPS CIRCUMFERENCE
Measure from the highest central part of the thigh, at the level of the crotch, down to the floor, following the natural line of the inner leg. Make sure the tape stays snug against the body.
INNER LEG LENGTH
Measure the circumference of both thighs just below the crotch and enter the larger value between the two. Make sure the tape is properly aligned horizontally!
